Batana oil comes from the rainforests of La Mosquitia, a remote stretch of Honduras’s Caribbean coast, where it has long been prepared by the Miskito people, often known as the Tawira, a name commonly translated as “people of beautiful hair.”
It is pressed from the nuts of the American oil palm, Elaeis oleifera, a native species quite distinct from the African palm behind industrial palm oil. Traditionally, the nuts are roasted, cracked by hand and patiently worked into a rich, dark, buttery oil, a craft passed down through generations.
For generations, batana has held a valued place in the care and conditioning of hair. Lumarin Flow draws inspiration from this heritage, presenting batana through a distinctly modern luxury experience.
